Meet Our Team
Angela Long, O.D.
Prior to receiving her Doctor of Optometry degree, Doctor Angela Long was awarded her Bachelor of Science in Biology in 1992. While in Optometry School, Dr. Angie cared for patients in clinics as far west as Utah and as far south as Biloxi, Mississippi. After moving to New York upon graduation, she worked in private practice concentrating on pediatric eyecare and contact lenses, while further honing her eye disease management and general optometry skills. Dr. Angie enjoys seeing a variety of patients, being with her daughters Emily and Madelyn, and gardening.
W. Jarrod Long, O.D.
After graduating from Optometry School, Dr. Jarrod Long completed a Hospital-based/Ocular Disease Residency through the Veteran’s Administration in New York. He lectured, published papers and posters, and treated patients with eye diseases such as glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy. Also while in New York, he received Low Vision Certification through the Lighthouse Corporation and has now established himself as one of the few Low Vision Specialists in the area. Dr. Jarrod enjoys seeing a variety of patients, being with his daughters Emily and Madelyn, and sports of all kinds.
Melanie Carver, O.D.
Dr. Melanie Carver received her Doctor of Optometry degree from Indiana University School of Optometry in 2008. She has been practicing in this area since graduation. Dr. Carver has been managing her own optometry practice since 2009 and has been involved in all aspects of the business. She enjoys focusing on patient care and seeing a wide variety of patients. She is highly skilled in primary care, fitting contact lenses, seeing emergency eye care, and identifying and treating ocular diseases. Originally from southern Indiana, Dr. Carver and her husband have made Bloomington their home. In her downtime, she enjoys reading, crafting, cooking/baking, and spending time with family, friends, and her two dogs.
Misty
Misty has been with Long Family Eye Care since 2015. She is our front desk operations team leader and an expert in billing, scheduling, and insurance coverage. She takes pride and keeping the office running smoothly. When not working, she loves reading, vacationing, and spending time with her husband, son, and daughter. Fall is Misty’s favorite season…and she finds it to be a great time to enjoy her favorite drink, coffee!
Emma
Emma holds an Associate of Science degree in general studies and an Optometric Technology Technical Certificate from Ivy Tech. She also now maintains her American Board of Opticianry certification. In addition to frame/lens selections, dispenses, and adjustments, she works closely with our optical lab and contact lens vendors to ensure proper ordering and quality control. While out of the office, she enjoys hiking and spending time outdoors with her partner and four dogs.
Casey
Casey is cross-trained in all areas of the practice and maintains a leadership role. She is accountable for our comprehensive and effective approach to all aspects of primary care and low vision care. She is a graduate of the Optician/Technician program at Indiana University where she was President of her class. Along with her degree from IU she is American Board of Opticianry (ABO) certified and continues to fit and train patients and staff on proper glasses fit, as well as low vision glasses use and training. When she is not working, she enjoys
spending time with her husband and two young daughters.
Janay
Before she became the head optician at Long Family Eye Care, Janay was a patient in the practice! She has extensive optical cross-training, but she now enjoys her role helping our patients shop for their new frames to match their lifestyle, personality, and color/style preferences. Janay also earned her American Board of Opticianry (ABO) certification in 2022! She truly enjoys listening to patients’ stories in order to help find the right lenses to fit their needs – she keeps up with current optical fashion trends too! When not working, she enjoys spending time with her son and two cats, playing video games with friends, and watching favorite tv shows.
Holly
Holly started her career in Optometry in 2006 and has held many roles ranging from technician to leadership & management. In 2013, Holly was diagnosed with Stargardt’s Disease, which is a retinal disease similar to macular degeneration and results in a loss of central vision. Since then, Holly has developed a great passion for helping those with low vision and she is now our head low vision technician. She has volunteered for The Foundation Fighting Blindness and assists with their annual Vision Walk. In 2022, Holly earned her American Board of Opticianry (ABO) certification. When Holly isn’t working, she enjoys spending time with her husband, 3 children and their dog.
Chloe
Prior to joining our practice in 2023, Chloe had 3 years of experience as an optometric technician for Dr. Carver. Now, cross-trained as a “float,” she enjoys learning and helping with all aspects of eyecare in our office. Chloe was raised in Brown County and is now happily married to Michael. When she’s not reading or traveling, she and Michael enjoy spending time with their dogs, Hank, Ryder, and Daisy
Karrie
While she has always had an interest in eye care, Karrie actually started her career with on-the-job training here at Long Family Eye Care. She says she has enjoyed every moment of it and cannot wait to learn more and further her education! While she loves people, she loves animals even more and really enjoys being creative, crafty, and being outdoors. When not working, she spends time working on her home with her fiancé and cuddling with her fur-babies.
Carlie
Carlie has experience caring for patients in both ophthalmology and optometry offices since 2016. Along with being cross-trained in optical and preliminary testing, Carlie is our lead contact lens technician. She aids the doctors with contact lens checks, fits, and insertion and removal training. She also handles all ordering of contact lenses and related supplies. She enjoys being outdoors, playing video/board games, decorating cakes, painting/crafting, and cooking/baking. She loves spending time with family, friends, and her husband. They live in Bloomington with their beloved dog and cat.
Lacey
Lacey had two years of optical experience before being hired to join the Long Family Eye Care Team. She is one of two optometric technicians in our office who focus primarily on direct patient preliminary testing care. Lacey enjoys concerts with friends, leaving town for vacations, and making memories with her son and daughter.
Annette
Annette had 20 years of optical experience before joining our practice in 2024. While she helps with all aspects of eyecare in our office, her primary role is that of a low vision technician. Annette is married with two sons and Coco the dachshund. She also has her first grandson! She enjoys crafting with greeting cards and shells, and her ultimate goal is to volunteer to save the sea turtles at Hunting Island State Park, South Carolina.
